June 6, 2011 was the first official day of LGW. I recruited Alexia to help me film / act in webisodes, MsStayPuft (formerly known as shortbus) to help me blog, and some of my friends to help me spread the word (before they had ANY idea what I was doing). The ideas came at least 5-6 months prior to the launch and filming started 3 months early.

Why did I do this? Well, in order to answer that question I have to reference my first 2 influences.

Influences:

1.

I used to watch adult swim off and on over the years. Space Ghost coast to coast, The Boondocks, Anime, etc. I was upset when AS started introducing live action shows. One day I ran across Tim & Eric and was like…???…but I liked it…so I watched another episode…and other…and other…aaaannnndddd I became a fan. It was a mix of dark humor, anti-humor, amateur acting, and uncomfortable situations. I was like “Wow, they’re literally doing WHATEVER they want…and they have a show on TV…that they’re getting paid to do it”. One thing I respect above many other things is ANYONE who can make a living doing whatever uniquely defines them…regardless of what it is. It inspired me to be me no matter what / that I could create a world of my own that could one day be self-sustaining.

2.

Chris Guillebou The Art of Non-Conformity Blog

Chris Guillebeau. An artist friend of mine posted a link on FB to this blog. Everything I read from this site encouraged me to seriously consider and begin my La Guardia World Website / Blog journey. There was a lot of encouragement and resources for artistic entrepreneurs. It was a marriage of Insanity (T&E) and Sanity (CG).

I use to separate the passions I had: Art / Music / The silly ideas that constantly ran through my head / The deep side of me. These 2 influences (along with a few others) motivated me to combine everything into one world. Every journey begins with a first step, so my first step was to channel the hidden insane part of myself that hadn’t been fully tapped into…and it’s been some of the most fun I’ve ever had. It also lead me to realize my passion for creative self-expression.

New Direction

This new season will be one of balance. The site won’t only be a place of insanity and humor…it’ll now become a place that truly is LGW…a balance of everything I am and what I’m involved in. the silly and the deep. Stay tuned.

Design. Music. Ideas.

Today I celebrate being Black / African-American / Brown…etc. Color is a beautiful thing and I’m proud of the color my skin bears. I hope you’re proud of yours…you should be. (Yeah, I’m having a deep moment)

Happy after Monday LGWers!

I have an important message from the band 85:

”Sunday June 10 we’ll be providing each of you with pure free music download. We decided to layoff the majority of our 85 band members, we cut down our 85 tracks to 5 (since we’re only releasing an ep) and after an intense 85hr meeting (no bathroom breaks) we decided that each track would be edited down from 85 min to 3-4min each. 85 waves goodbye.” - 85 band

Happy Monday Night LG World readers (aka…me)

We’re about 3 weeks away from the year anniversary of LG World (June 6, 2012). After the anniversary we’re gonna be taking the summer off to plan / rebuild, but you can still keep up to date with us on our many many social networks! This 2nd half of the year will bring a variety of changes. LG World will begin to stabilize. We’ll still maintain our insanity, but you’ll began seeing a greater variety of posts dealing with madness, deeper topics, and entrepreneurial things. You’ll also began to see links to other allies and projects we’re involved with.

Stay tuned in the upcoming weeks and continue to enjoy our pasts year of posts!

This is my Photoshop compilation of 3 shots taken by Farah Artist @ Dania Beach…on April 7th. I’m not exaggerating when I tell you it was -9,000 degrees below zero with winds up to 589,000 miles per second that night…but it was worth it. Enjoy my light logo art piece.

Happy Monday Folks!

For the past few weeks I’ve been meeting up with an untitled band now known as “85. As soon as we decided on a name I started messing around with images. We’re practicing every week and adding members along the way. The plan is become an 85 member band by this summer = 17 drummers, 17 keyboardist, 17 guitarist, 17 bass guitarist, 16 misc members, and me.

STAY TUNED!!!

My new best friend Marlis vowed to one day bake and design a homemade La Guardia World cake. 8-9 months later…IT’S FINALLY HERE!!! It’s the first of its kind / chocolate on the inside. I can’t virtually share the taste of this cake, but through the power of imagination you should all know that it’s REALLY FREAKIN’ GOOD!!!

If you like homemade/well designed desserts, check out: Sweetemptations by Marlis.

Good mawnin’ LGWers!

It’s been over 9 months since things got started here on June 6th…and a full year since I started preparing for the LGW launch. Everything started with Alexia Maxwell (former MIA resident) and I creating sanity questionable videos with a green cloth  taped to the wall, plastic bags, ketchup, peanut butter, chocolate poop, dental floss, etc. Inspired by Adult Swim I began exploring the world of “I’ll do whatever I want”.

Before the launch I pulled in MsStayPuft (formerly ShortBus) to bring her witty immaturity to every Friday of LGW. We’ve never missed posting SOMETHING on a Mon or Fri so far!

What have we done so far? Webisodes, Video Blogs, Facebook Like Song, Video Guessing Game, Photoshop madness, Xtranormal Videos, Heard MsStayPuft rap about farts, and now we’re approaching #18 of a “That Brief Moment” series from the mind of MsStayPuft.

Shout out to 2 of our biggest fans: Farah (my cuz/visual artist) and Dania (who saw me rapping about farts at a show). A big thanks to everyone and anyone else who’s stopped by to show love or judgement over the past months, we appreciate y’all.
