Today I celebrate being Black / African-American / Brown…etc. Color is a beautiful thing and I’m proud of the color my skin bears. I hope you’re proud of yours…you should be. (Yeah, I’m having a deep moment)

Shadows that light up the day

Darkness show the way…

“Ever spent years mapping out what your direction is?/
Then life shakes you and does what Etch-A-Sketchers did?/
I’m trying to piece together whatever is left of this/
Desperate for the recipe, but hey…I’m blessed to live/”

- Lyrics by La Guardia. Copyright 2011

“…We pick dreams on the plantation
then lynch ‘em on a tree, no emancipation
corroded thoughts, no sanitation
life’s just a sketch, no animation.

Runaway slaves from the mind
are looking for a place with no space no time.
No race no lines, just looking to be safe inside.” – La Guardia (Mukta)

Featuring Raheema Ishmael-Ramroop & Shri Ramroop. Track by Devin Arne.
